Cody
A coding assistant built on Sourcegraph code search. Its context comes from an index of your whole repository and not only the open file.

Cody beats a plain chat panel on retrieval. Before answering, it searches the indexed codebase for the functions and types that bear on the question. That matters most in large repositories, where the useful context is rarely in the open file.
On a small repository the advantage mostly disappears, because a model with the open file and a couple of pasted references does about as well. Cody earns its place on codebases so large that nobody holds the whole thing in their head.
Notes from the author
Wait for the first repository index to finish before you judge the answers. A half-indexed large repo retrieves worse than no retrieval, since it returns matches that sound sure and miss half the code.
