GitHub Copilot
Inline code suggestions and a chat panel in the editor, backed by a choice of models. Most developers try it first, for better or worse.

Copilot suggests completions as you type, and Copilot Chat answers questions about the open file or the whole workspace. You can now pick the model per request instead of being tied to one vendor.
Completions are strongest on boilerplate and on code that resembles the rest of the file: tests that follow an existing pattern, a function that mirrors the one above it. The further a task sits from anything in the surrounding context, the worse they get. For less common libraries it suggests wrong API calls with full confidence and does not stay quiet.
Notes from the author
Switch suggestions off in files with secrets or credentials before you enable Copilot for a repository. It reads the whole open file for context, not only the line you are typing.
