Pick Continue when you want Claude, GPT, Gemini or a local Ollama model in the same editor panel and want to switch per task. Configuration is a plain file, so the setup travels with the repository and does not stay in one person's editor settings.
It works with any model, so quality depends on what you point it at. The extension adds no capability that a raw API call lacks. What you get is the workflow: inline edits, a chat panel and custom commands, wired to whichever model suits the task.
Notes from the author
Configure a small local model as the autocomplete fallback. It costs nothing and answers fast enough that you stop noticing every keystroke going to a paid API.
