How Claude extends a conversation with packaged capabilities and live connections to services such as Google Drive and Slack. Configure them once and they appear in every chat.

A Skill packages instructions and, where needed, code that Claude can run for one recurring task. A connector gives Claude read access to an outside service, such as a shared drive or a project tracker, so it can answer from your actual data and not from what you paste in.
A connector grants ongoing access, and a one-off paste does not. Read the scope you are approving before you connect a service that holds anything sensitive.
Notes from the author
Check what a connector can read, whatever its name says. Google Drive access can mean one shared folder or the whole drive, depending on how you authorised it.
