Turn a vague request into a written brief
Takes a one-line request from a colleague or client and returns the questions that have to be answered before work starts.
Below is a request I received. Turn it into a working brief.
Return:
1. What I think is being asked, in one paragraph.
2. The assumptions I would be making if I started now - list them, because each one is a place this goes wrong.
3. The questions that must be answered before starting, ordered by how much rework they prevent.
4. What is explicitly out of scope based on what was said.
Do not propose a solution.

{{request}}Notes from the author
The instruction not to propose a solution is doing the work. Without it you get an implementation plan built on the assumptions you were trying to surface.
